Content Learning Cell Academy Consultation

Friday 13th June 2014

Proposal for Rainhill St Ann’s Church of England Primary School to convert to Academy Status

On Tuesday 10th June, the Governors voted unanimously that we should consult on the basis of possible academy conversion as either our own Academy Trust or as part of a Multi Academy Trust. The consultation will be carried out with parents/carers, staff and the local/wider community to provide Governors with a clear picture of the school and wider community’s views about this potential change.

Should a conversion take place our school would:

  1. Remain a Church of England School within the Diocese of Liverpool, maintaining the Christian Values which we have firmly established in recent years.
  2. Not change the direction of teaching and learning at the school. The leadership team and all staff are totally dedicated to ensuring that Rainhill St Ann’s continues to provide the high standards of education and attainment/progress which have been achieved in recent years.
  3. Not change the pay and conditions of staff. As a Voluntary Aided Church of England School, all staff are already employees of the Governors, not the Local Authority. We would ensure that staff did not suffer any loss due to the possible change. In fact, we would have extra flexibility which would allow us to recruit and retain the best possible teachers and staff.

We would encourage you to present your support, views, concerns and questions either by email to: or in writing to the school’s address, please mark letters with ‘Academy Consultation’. A drop in will be available between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Friday 4th July should you wish to address any concerns with the Headteacher/SLT/Members of the Governing Body.

The consultation period will end at midnight on Monday 14th July 2014.
