About Our School

Rectory C.E. Primary School is a small primary school on the borders of St Helens and Wigan. It is set in Downall Green, an area with a rich local history. The school has provided a Christian education for primary children for 170 years and has recently celebrated this.

The vision of the Headteacher and Staff is a strong one committed to raising the attainment of all, accelerating progress through the collective responsibility of all partners, and working very closely with parents and carers.

The school has a commitment to inclusion and embraces ability and disability in equal measure.

Rectory School is a resource base for a number of children with Autism.

Children are happy and valued and the Christian ethos is strong.

Ofsted rated the school as 'good' with 'outstanding features' in 2012 and result of the Anglican Inspection was that the school is 'outstanding'.

Headteacher's Welcome

Dear All

If your child is to join us for the first time, we welcome you and look forward to a happy and successful association over the coming years. If you already have a child in school we are pleased to renew the links between us.

This website gives you an insight into Rectory School activities and a feeling of the caring and stimulating environment of which we are proud.

Confidence in a school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it. We hope that you will extend your knowledge through contact and discussions with myself and members of our school community. It is important that there is mutual understanding and trust in our partnership so that your child can achieve and attain all that he/she is capable of during the time spent at Rectory School.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Janet Prowse
